This is an update for Health Care Professionals who are offering ‘on the day’ appointments for people with acute illness.

Although these are often referred to as minor illness clinics or ‘triage’ a key element of these appointments is to

• assess any red flags which might indicate serious illness requiring immediate action or referral

• identify any red flags which might indicate serious illness requiring immediate action or referral

• exclude any red flags which might indicate serious illness requiring immediate action or referral
