About the webinar
Headache is a common presentation in primary care, but distinguishing primary headache disorders from potentially serious secondary causes can be challenging.
This practical 90 minute webinar will provide a structured approach to the assessment and management of patients presenting with migraine and other headache disorders. It will cover diagnosis, recognition of red flags, lifestyle measures, acute and preventive treatment options, and when specialist referral is appropriate.
The session will also provide an overview of current NICE recommendations and treatment criteria, including the use of newer CGRP targeted therapies.
What will be covered?
By the end of the session, attendees will have a clearer understanding of:
- diagnostic criteria of migraine and headache disorders
- excluding red flag symptoms and signs
- treatment options: lifestyle changes
- treatment options for prevention including CGRP antagonists and monoclonal antibodies: oral and injectables as well as criteria for approval NICE
- treatment options for acute attacks: oral including Triptans and CGRP antagonists
- when to refer to secondary care or headache specialist.

Dr Katy Kyprianou is a GP with specialist training and postgraduate experience in neurology. She will provide a practical, primary-care focused approach to the diagnosis and management of headache disorders, with particular emphasis on recognising red flags, navigating treatment options and identifying patients who require specialist referral.
